Hey guys, looking for a new Etch resistant pen since the DECON PC 33 has been discontinued  :icon_cry:

Iv used Sharpie & Staedtler Lumocolor, but they are really just not that good when compared to the DECON......anyone using something special?

Depends on the etchant that you use. I use this:

Must use with FeCl though  :-\

Link doesn't say anything about HCL.  Do you think it would resist?

I use a Sharpie Paint pen (extra fine point) from local craft store- worked a bit better with FeCL, but it will stand up to HCL/peroxide for the time it takes to etch a board.  Gotta do at least two coats.  It won't hold up for enclosure etching in FeCL, though- too violent a reaction, perhaps.

I can never get the fine point Sharpies to write well on copper. When trying to use them to fill in spots where toner did not stick, I end up doing more damage than good. The point picks off toner. I tend to dab with thicker Sharpies and consider the result part of the artistic quality of the board.
An oxymoron - clean transistor boost.
