So here it is my poorman's muff. Made out of scavenged parts.
Schematic Ive used

And the pictures

Even the box is DIY xD

PS The only change I ve made is 250k pot for tone, i didn't have any 100k and the guy i made this for decided to be kinda cheep. Hence 250 k tone pot. Sounds nice, really nice. Only 6 euros spent on it. :)

Funny thing ... it roars like a mad dog and sings beautifully like a humming bird on my Vox AD 50VT ( Yamaha Pac 120s is the guitar i ve used ) but it sounds like crap on some-Laney-transistor-almost-broken amp with handmade 1978 les paul copy ... to tell you the truth i expected better sound from that transistor cheap amp as most of those high gain distortions sound better on cheaper amps and pretty much fail miserably on my Vox ( MT-2 for example ). Diodes are changed to 1n4148. I ve tried led's, germanium's, shottkeys, 1n4148 and some random diodes i ve scavenged from VCR or something like that. 1n4148's turned out to be the optimum choice, germanium's were more natural and maybe even nicer sounding but also they've lowered the volume. In the end the guy ive made this for decided he liked 1n4148 the best. One of these days i m going to make a germanium muff. PNP big muff circuit but with germanium transistors ( Ive scavenged some from some Russian tv, hail scavenging !! xD ) and germanium diodes. Can't wait to make and hear that beast :)
