Hi there,

I am about to finish an other diy pedal and for this one I want to 'draw' a picture on the enclosure. I draw the picture on my computer but i don't know how to transfer on my enclosure.

Any ideas?

sorry for my english!!

Some people use water slide decals. I prefer to etch the enclosure with ferric chloride. You can also silk screen a design onto the pedal. There are different ways to do it, depending on the effect you want and the process that you feel is the easiest.

Try to create your design using a vector based graphics program, like http://inkscape.org/

Programs like Photoshop with do a decent job, but the image will be pixelated; whereas a vector based program will produce a smoother design.

This is probably the easiest way around it. I personally am not fussy about the whole colour of the enclosure and I'm happy to print a decal to cover it's top, apply it to the bare (clean and grease free) enclosure and clear coat it. All you need is a printer, some waterslide decal paper and a can of clear lacquer of some sort (usually around a fiver or so). Cheap and cheerful, and surely does the trick.

That said, if you want the whole enclosure to be of a certain colour, all you have to do is apply a primer first, then complete all the steps as listed above.

Edit: Worth echoing what Texstrat said, do use a vector based design software (like Illustrator/InDesign, or Inkscape/Scribus if you have to go freeware) for good detail and smoothness.
