Hi all,

My singer wants me to build him an overdrive for his harmonica, or harp.  He wants something that sounds old-school, or has a nice breakup.  Has anyone built anything like that before?

Thanks!

I brought my tweed Princeton to a blues jam once and the harp player plugged into it and produced instant Chicago.  So I'm going to go with a 3-tube (5Y3, 12AX7, 6V6) amp using an 8" speaker.  Given the omnipresence of those things, whether fender Champions, Crate, Epiphone, Harley-Benton, or whatever, a crystal mic into one of those is a recipe for serious harmonica tone.

I built a Fuzz Face (germanium) for our harmonica player and he loves it. He uses a Tech21 amp. Small Fenders and alike are good choises also.
