Any mods for a Fulltone GT500?

Hi
I love the OD side of my Fulltone GT500, but the Distortion side is harder to dial in something tasty.  I did a few searches and couldn't find any mods.  Has anyone out there modded this thing to tame the ZZZs out?  Even at low gain the Distortion side is a bit too "metal" or brittle for my taste.  I play a Tele Thinline and a Les Paul Studio through a '76 Twin, if that helps.

apparently Fulltone used to send out a PDF for the mods but they don't anymore I would love a copy. As the distortion side in the Gray one is not as nice as the RED.

  With schematic or even 'it's like a' [tubescreamer ?]...would help.
   Reducing gain/distortion should be fairly straightforewad...
