I bought the amazing marshall class 5 this week and have been jamming on it, and today I tried out my dr boogey through it and it is by far the most amazing metal/rock tone machine I have ever heard in my life! WOW! I don't say that lightly, cause I've been searching for this tone all 16 years of playing guitar. I've owned the DrB for a few years now and never has it sounded this good through either my JCM900 or my AVT150h.. not even frickin' close. This is not buzzy or harsh but thick and luscious and articulate and smooth!

Has anyone else tried the DrB through a class A tube amp? I'd like to know how it stacks with other amps as well, or if it's just the magic in the Class 5. :P

The best sounds I've had with the DR Boogey were into the BYOC Champ clone. It's such a dark amp that the treblieness of the Boogey really gets smoothed over. It also sound incredible into the clean channel on my JCM 800 2010. That amp has very little clean headroom, so the Boogey drives it into a very nice thick sound.

I installed a harshness remover cap across the volume pot a long while back, but my tone stack is a little different than stock anyway so it's never really been too trebly.. it just had a quality to it that didn't sound musical to me. But through this thing it is absolutely incredible. I've got to get some sound clips of it

cool :icon_twisted: its a great distortion, but like many others i never liked the tonestack...i find its a great riffin machine, but not so much of a good feel for leads...imo.

mine sounds great through a marshall (clean) avt275.....very :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:

That's exactly how I feel about the real Dual Rec. The bottom four strings always sound nice and chunky, but if try to play leads... it's just... ugh. You can get useable lead tones with some careful EQing, but it's in no way a lead amp. And both the amp and the pedal sound great with a TS in front of them.

I'm considering changing some values to make the tonestack identical to the tonestack from the Randall RG100. We'll see...I need to finish my newest Dr Boogey board.

C10 = 2n2
C11 = No change
C12 = No change
R14 = No change
Treble = 47k (50k)
Bass = 47k (50k)
Mid = 2k2 (2k)

The Randall does have a Jfet buffer after the tonestack in the RG100. They use the same tonestack in the Century as well except they use an IC buffer after the tonestack. The buffer is placed between the tonestack and the presence control.
