How can I design and make my own Decal sticker for a pedal box?

Hello,

I am trying to make my own decal sticker for a Taiwanese "BB" size box- New Sensor 1590NS (4.7' x 3.7' x 1.18") that I got from smallbearelec.com

Can someone please tell me how can I design and print out my own decal templates using an inkjet printer?  What type of software program should I use with my PC and how do I set the measurement parameters on it?

I already got an 8.5" x 11" decal sheet to work with.

Gimp and Inkscape are free work-alikes for Photoshop and Illustrator. There's a bit of a learning curve with them, but they're great tools.

There are plenty other programs that I'm sure people will suggest as well.
