I Think I Killed My Little Gem

I was trying to figure out a problem with a Bassman build.   I was using my Little gem both to send a signal to the power side of my bassman, and that was working.   Then I used the little gem to amplify the signal from the preamp side of my bassman build.  Now my little gem wont work.  All it does is make a popping sound thru the speaker when i turn it on or switch on the distortion. 

Do you guys think its just the IC chip that I cooked?

Thoughts, Ideas?

I put a new chip in it.  Now it works great again!!   

Gotta love it when you can fix it for under $2!
