fixing broken cords

At the top is a cord I recently repaired with a cheap plugs from radio shack. It didn't take too long for the terminals inside to get all twisted up and short out. So I replaced the ends, but this time filled it up with silicone adhesive before replacing the plastic sleeve and barrel. Now there is really no way for the terminals to twist and short out (hopefully).

It will likely last for some time. However, do note that some (most) common silicone sealants contain acid so the joint may corrode over time.

that solves your plug issue, but about half the time my cables go bad where it bends just past the plug on the outside, which requires cutting the cable back and re-soldering the plug onto a new section.  Might have an issue then, as I found out when I tried to repair a Monster cable that was built that way.
