Boss CS-2: is it feasible to build?

First of all, hello again!
I've been in a state of forced quiescence for almost a year, so no new builds for me... still checked almost everyday the forum though!
Just a simple question: I've been asked to build some CS-2 clones, so I started to search for schematics and stuff, and I found out the big problem is the BA662 VCA, right?
I found out BA6110 should do the job, but it is difficult to find anyway, and not everyone is convinced about its performances.
My question is: should I drop the idea to build the CS2? And in this case, could someone please tell me a decent substitute for a CS2 (I need a compressor that has attack and release controls, at least, so no DOD280, Orange Squeezer or  Dynacomp)?
