Substitute standard pot for bias trimpot in TB MKII

First of all, thank you so much for this valuable resource, and all the free info that has been made available to us noobs...

I plan on building a Tonebender MKII fuzz clone, and the layout I have calls for a 100k bias trimpot, and I'd like to use a standard, externally-mounted pot instead. I found two posts related to this subject, but they had two slightly different answers. One said that it would be perfectly fine, whereas the other said that the original trimpot would need to be measured for its effective range, and the full-size pot would need resistors wired in to match the trimpot. Would this be necessary for this particular application? Thanks.
