i have built the realMcCoy Wah from Fuzzcentral in a standard Dunlop shell using the Dunlop inductor. Is this thing noisy!!!
The thing was perfboarded ( i don't like etching) and the inductor is quite close to the transistors, which are BC107B's. What can be the problem?
Thnx.

Hi Constantin,

What's the noise, is is hiss or humm, do you hear it always or is in a certain position of the wah pedal?

it is more of a hum. very similar to the hum of a overdrive pedal fed with single coil pickups, however not the 60cycle.

Is the hum frequency constant?

jrc4558

yes. it just looses some trebles when the pedal is rocked back.

Grounding problem perhaps?

I would doubt so; for the jacks should be transmitting ground to the shell.

The Jack's in my Dunlop Cry Baby are isolated from the shell.....

Might be worth trying it out in a different location, in case it is picking up interfernce from a light dimmer or similar. Providing you have already tried a battery (in case there is wall wart hum involved).Unliely, but I can't see why a wah would pick up hum?? they aren't high gain or anything.

I will be off experimenting. Will post results if arrive at a decent SN ratio.
