MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive ic replacement

I can't seem to find mc33178, can i use tl072,tl082,4558 or even 6558? Will ic swap affect the overall amount of gain?

you can sub a tl072 since the pins are the same..but the mc33178 is a different design....subbing a different IC would change the sound...you can find the replacement on ebay but it is not cheap(7.95 and up)

Are you building this overdrive or are you looking to replace the op amp?

Pretty sure I have the MC33178 laying around. Let me know
