Does anyone have schematics or info on an older Takamine Accuracoustic preamp.  It's the one without the tuner.  It's surface mount components, which is bad enough for troubleshooting, but Takamine won't fess up to having a schemo for it.  They want you to buy a new preamp for $150-$300.  Ouch.  Trouble is that the thing is modular to the frame cut into the guitar (a Santa Fe) so it's not like I could just pop in a Fishman.

Thanks.

no, but any moving parts ie jacks, pots , battery snaps <--- these always die, are the likely culprits, surface mount is pretty reliable except for board mounted pots / jacks.... chances are its something that encounters physical stresses...
so
1 battery jack/snap
2 board mounted jacks /pots
3 jacks / pots that arent board mounted...

...you could make an audio probe and check around those parts, see if/when where signal disapears...

Make sure it's the preamp.  If any of the piezo goes, the whole thing stops working.  You may have 1, 2, or 3 pickups.  Also check the wiring at the piezo...thin wire, easy to break from vibration/movement.
