Need Help Troubleshooting PNP Fuzz face

I built several fuzz faces from a wiring diagram I found online. It is the common diagram that everyone seems to have. I wired up the switch and jacks using the diagram from guitar gadgets. Two of the fuzz faces work perfectly from the battery only; i.e., they do not work when I try to power them from the DC Jack.  Otherwise the LED lights up, the volume and effects knobs work and I am very satisfied with the sound.  But now I'd like to be able to power them from a power supply.

I have read about troubleshooting, but I was hoping someone had perhaps seen this problem before or may from superior knowledge understand the nature of the problem and be able to give me some ideas on where to look first  to save time on getting the DC  jack to work.  Thanks in advance for any help.

did you measure the voltage at the jack to make sure it's actually 9V? did you use a pedal adapter (center negative)
describe or picture how you wired the DC jack.

On quick search, here's a couple helpful links, but you'll have to adjust for pnp

Lucifer:
Thanks for the reply. I will review that material carefully. The problem I think I am having is how to "adjust for PNP". Can you explain what you mean by that? Thanks.

In the Beavis link you can see that it is negative ground (follow the battery clip leads), but you have pnp = positive ground

here's another, but for PNP:

lu, great post bro...

for years, i wired pnp's in the box wrong, and wondered why i had so many issues with them.
i'd been wiring the led part like a normal npn pedal, and wondering why it was AFU! lol
