Click Track to Tap Tempo

Hi everyone,
I've got this little project I've been asked to help with for a mate - and my knowledge has been stretched!
He uses click tracks when he performs, and he'd like his Delay Pedals and Loopers etc.. to sync to the click track.
There is no MIDI or anything like that, just a click track on an iPod.

Does anyone know of a circuit that can convert an AUDIO CLICK to a TAP TEMPO?

Here's where we're at for now... almost working...

You did ask.   :icon_biggrin:

I think this does what you're describing, maybe a couple of other things as well. It's just out of the manufacturing process, will hit dealers soon.

It was a bit complicated, as some pedals don't like to have a continuous tap tempo signal fed in, and may do odd things if they get a continuous tapping. Plus we found that some click tracks contain interesting artifacts, like reverb on the click, which confuse simple analog detectors.

A lot depends on what his delay pedals and loopers want to see from the tap signal, and what they can withstand in the way of "mistakes" in tapping.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
