Does anyone know of where I can find a custom layout for a dpdt relay footprint for Express PCB?
I found the datasheet at http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/G5V-2.pdf
I'm trying to create a custom component in Express PCB, but I can't find where to judge the spacing. I'm still new to that layout software.

Hi Ed,

On the datasheet you linked there's a diagram of the relay base shown on a 100mil grid which is the same size as the grid used in ExpressPCB. The relay is layed out, sized and numbered and matches a 16 pin dip socket.

You could simply use a 16 pin Dip socket from ExpressPCB, as is... or you could take a 16 pin dip socket ungroup it and delete the pads that aren't needed for the component then group what's left to have a custom component for your library.

Back to the datasheet, it shows pins 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13 & 16 are used so all other pads could be deleted leaving you something like this for your custom component. You could delete the green inside and draw a rectangle around the pads that is correctly dimensioned for the relay body, this would make doing the layout easier.

From the datasheet the body is approximately 400×800mil so now you have this.
