Looking for a dry, medium gain fuzz/distortion circuit...

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into building a medium/low gain fuzz circuit that sounds dry and doesn't need to have much sustain.
I'm not looking for something smooth with long singing sustain, but rather something bare and dry for some dirty jangly arpeggios.
Any circuits you'd recommend for that kind of sound? I tried Orpheum/Fuzzrite/Companion kind of circuits at low gain voltage but they seem to perform well at higher settings and don't deliver great cleaner sounds... Perhaps anyone knows of any mods to make the lower gain sounds twangier and more usable?

Thanks in advance for any sort of input!

Without knowing exactly what you want, you can try a small cap (330p?) from collector to base on most any fuzz to lower the gain (you'll also lose some higher frequencies). Look at the fuzz factory for an example.

Or maybe try 1.5 or 3v source, but I doubt that's what you're looking for...

Maybe a treble booster might be more what you are looking for, instead of a fuzz. Usually fuzzboxes are bottom heavy
