ok so i built this:
https://sites.google.com/site/distorque/home/projects/modded-electra-distortion

and i put a gain knob
clipping threshold knob

naturally it has distortion and volume knob... so right now i have 4 knobs and i like to add big muff pi tone...

(dont worry about the tone stack problems)

so what knob is worth removing??

If you've added the gain knob do you need the distortion knob as well? You can probably turn your guitar's volume down and get a  similar effect.

uh hard question... what's the difference and what's the best configuration?

can you explain pls?? do you think gain much better than distortion??

what slacker said is that there seems to be two knobs doing the same. looking to the schematic, you could remove the distortion knob, since you can use the pots from your guitar and get the same effect.

another option would be using a trimpot instead of a pot in the cliping threshold. tune it once to your liking and leave it there. it's a possibility
