Bonded vs tinned wire

If hookup wire is advertised as tinned does that mean bonded? Or could it be tinned and not bonded?

"Tinned" wire has a silvery plating applied to the copper. This makes it a bit easier to solder and less liable to corrosion in unfriendly environments (especially if the copper is of the bargain basement variety). The term "tinned" can apply to wire that is single strand or multistrand, insulated and bare. If the conductive part is copper coloured then it ain't tinned!

I don't quite know what you mean by "bonded" - over here that sometimes refers to speaker type cable that has two wires moulded into a single insulator in a figure-8 section. Also called "bell" or "zip" wire sometimes. Could you explain? (There may e a "two nations divided by a common language" thing going on here)

By bonded I mean the individual strands of stranded wire are bonded to each other. I have been using bonded wire from smallbear which is a pleasure to work with. dont need to tin it, holds its shape, doesnt snap as easy as solid wire. I see PedalPartsPlus sells bonded wire. My question is if the wire is tinned is it necessarily bonded?
I am making an assumption that they tin the wire after they strand it together which would "bond" it. But maybe its tinned then stranded. Just want to know what I am getting if I buy "tinned" wire.

No.  Tinned wire is as gritz described above.  It's stranded wire where each strand is tinned (probably chemically) prior to twisting and adding of insulation.   Bonded wire is taking that the proverbial one step further and bonding all of those individual strands together.   So no, if you see tinned wire, it's not necessarily bonded.

Ahh, thanks for that. I've seen it, but only very rarely. So I'll second what defaced said.
