Identifying diodes

So I just got in the mail today some diodes that I ordered from the store.  I ordered my typical setup of 1N34a but changed from the 1N4001 to the 1N4184.  I have managed to identify the 4184 but the other set of 16 diodes (I ordered 2 of the 8 germanium diodes) but they are these very small phosphor color like the the 4184, a little bit shorter and have a yellow band at the cathode.  Are these a different packaging for the 1N34a, because if they are, I think i prefer these over the older ones.  I can't measure or test to see if they have the germanium forward voltage drop, but the circuit I put them in is very specific.  I have been online looking at pictures seeing if there was a different package like the diodes I got for the 1N34a but found nothing but the old large clear diodes I am used to getting and pictures of the 4184.

If anyone could help clear that up for me that would be great.  I tried looking around to see if there was a way to contact Aron directly but could not outside of the forum, so I figured I would ask generally to everyone.

The 1N34A comes in a DO-7 glass package which is much larger than the 1N4148 DO-35 package.
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)
