Would there be value to inserting clipping diodes in the path of Q2 on the Colorsound Overdriver to help shape the character of the distortion?  I'm thinking something like this:

(I modified the schematic that is originally found on the Fuzz Central site)

Joe Davisson's Easy Drive has a setup like this that gives a bunch of options for the diodes...I thought that doing something similar here might also help lend some complexity or control.  The 500pF cap (or 470pF since that's a more common value) that is already wired across the BC of Q2 could pull double-duty as a smoothing cap, but with the addition of the diodes into the signal path, maybe the value could be changed to, say, a 150pF cap, and then perhaps an additional small pF cap could be wired across the BC of Q1 to compensate if the reduction of the Q2 cap leaves too much rasp in the signal.

Any thoughts?
