Scratchy and Poppy

Hi all, recently finished a Fat Control build based on an Ivark layout. Great pedal, works as intended but still have a few issues.

1. I wired the effect with buffered bypass to fix a popping problem. It works for the Fat Control, but it makes any pedal in the chain before it pop (which they don't do otherwise).

2. I get a scratchy sound on my Tele's volume knob when this pedal is in the chain. Is this an example of having DC on the output? If so, will a blocking cap between the output and the switch take care of it.

Any help much appreciated!

You have DC leaking out onto the signal line from somewhere, probably the buffer input.

Can't tell much more without schematics. Even better, use your meter and go measure the signal line for DC.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
