PAIA 1710 preamp

Hi,
yesterday I've found the Pygmy amplifier (check first link for the images)

and the accompanying 1710 pre-amp



My question is: the device 2N2712 is it a BJT or a MOSFET? I've googled around and found nothing (mixed responses).

Any builds?
