What's the best way to kill signal from this mic and it's stompbox?

My first thought is to send signal to ground between the stomp box and the mixer with a DPDT stomp switch  (I want to have an LED too).
To be clear, the switch will be in the stompbox, but just the last thing in the signal chain before the mixer.

Am I missing something. The guy this is for (my mate) needs to be able to stomp "off" and ditch the mic somewhere on stage.
No one is sitting at the mixer, so levels will still be up.

As always I appreciate everyone's input. It seems simple enough, but maybe one of you has a better idea.

Lucky for you, radio stations solved this a long time ago.  A google search for DIY Mic cough switch turns this up http://www.crownaudio.com/popless.htm

Thanks Boys, I hadn't seen that before.
We'll only be using dynamic mic's so I don't need the rest of the circuit, hopefully, but good to know I should be able to short
2 to 3 without a pop.
