Hi all,

A friend has asked me to fix his EH Crying Tone.  There is no output from the pedal engaged or bypass.

I noticed 2 wires had snapped on the mode dial switch.  One of the wires, im fairly certain where to solder it, from input to the empty lug on the switch (both marked in red circles in the photos below).  But im unsure where the loose white wire goes (marked with a yellow outline).

I've tried every combination i can think of with alligator clips but i just cant get ANYTHING out of the pedal.  If anyone has one of these and could tell me where to wire it, or if you are familiar with this sort of wah, your help be greatly appreciated!

I have added guts shots of the whole inside wiring for anyone in the future that needs to see the internal wiring for repairs.

Cheers!
Paul

From looking at the pictures I would first check all of the rotary switches.  Find the common and check the resistance of the contacts as you rotate the switch.  I always look and check mechanical parts and contacts and wires if the device is older.
Then trace the circuit I would disconnect the battery and using a meter set to read ohms check every switched connection and WIRE.

I've got one of these pedals. The connection from the input jack to the switch is correct. The input should connect to the footswitch, the mode switch where you circled, and the top right pad on the circuit board.
The broken white wire from the footswitch should also connect to the mode switch.
If you see on the switch that there are 3 groups of three connections on the switch (3PDT), there is the group of three closest to the input jack. One lug of the switch is connected to the middle lug of the wah pot, the middle lug of that group is connected to the circuit board. The third lug of that group is where you want to connect that broken wire on the footswitch to. That lug also has a jumper to the closest clockwise lug (separate switch group) on the mode switch.

Thanks everyone, and thanks cortez for the detailed response!  I gave it a go, but unfortunately the dammed thing still doesnt work.  There must be some other underlying problem...I'll look into it a bit more later today.

Thanks again everyone, i really appreciate it!
