I have a modern dunlop mxr smart gate pedal.  the pedal works but footswitch does not, it's seized up in fact.  the switch is soldered to the board and appears to be dpdt of some sort. does anybody know what type of footswitch these use? will just a standard dpdt latching switch with pins work?

I would assume it's just a pc-mount DPDT switch, unless that pedal is one of the ones they have upgraded to true bypass (they've done this in later versions of some MXR and other Dunlop pedals.  How many pins are there on the switch?.
If you're not sure, you could always just call up Dunlop and order the replacement part, even though it might cost a little more than getting the switch from a pedal parts dealer.  They'll probably want to know which revision the board is (printed on circuit board).
