If you know me at all you will know that I'm not the best at making pedals. But I can make them look good ;D

The other day I got an email from Mr. Peteytwofinger asking about a swirling tutorial. So I whipped up this lil two part tutorial.   I hope this is useful to the forum.

ENJOY!

Ma throats as dry as an overcooked kipper.

Smoke me a Kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.

Very good tutorial! I've seen others use kitchen roll to absorb the left over paint, any disadvantages to this? (I don't have an air compressor!)

(I'm hoping you didn't explain this in the video, I had to watch it on silent as I should be working)

Piss poor playing is why i make pedals.

Hi G,

no problem using kitchen roll. But it takes a lot of water (dropping at the floor), so wifes will be angry :-)
I use newspaper, they don´t drink so much...

For the colour I prefer marble magic, it cost me 8 Euro in germany for 6 colours (testpack). MM is easyer to use than Borax/Colour
Here is a photo of my swirled guitar (it´s a two way swirl)

You can do it also with acrylic colour, like this

Just put some drops of colour on the box and let the colour "run"

But I think blowing the water from the box is a bad idea, dust will come and you will get some little holes in the colour (it will look a little bit like the moon).

@amptramp
you need something like that

You've got me thinking about the valve covers on my car.  I might need a bigger bucket.

Nice tutorial!  :D

Can you dip the enclosure with the cover on to get a "connected" swirl all the way around?  I imagine you'd have to use an Exacto-Knife around the seam to cut the paint before separating the two pieces.
