Turning a LED on with a transistor

I want to put an indicator light on my tremolo.
If I put a LED directly to the pulsing source it works only at high speed.
At low speed the LED turns off. I think the voltage is lower then what the LED needs.
Can I use a transistor to turn the LE on and off and use the pulse source to drive that transistor?
I'm at work now, but will try it tonight. Just wanted opinions.
Thanks

are you, by chance, using an ean tremolo, in some form or other? the phase-shift oscillator output peaks at "a" frequency, and falls off either side of that freq. possibly, your osc is not putting out the voltage required for the led at the low freq end of the pot. you could probably use an emitter follower to drive the led.

It's for a KAY Tremolo.

Show me how and I'll try it.

Look at the 'Blinking LEDs' thread. There is a post by deadastronaut (among others) that uses both an NPN and PNP BJT to do what you want.
I'm a refugee of the great dropbox purge of '17.
Project details (schematics, layouts, etc) are slowly being added here: http://samdump.wordpress.com

I would like to add an LED to my original EA tremolo. Need to check out this blinking LEDs thread..

Looks exactly like what I was thinking.

Look at the GGG EA Trem project, the modification document talks about adding a flashing LED. I did it and it works without a follower.
