What will replacing the d6 on an sd-1 with an led do to the sound??

HOTTUBES

It will sound like it has more gain , and be louder !

So removing the D6(jump wires) will give it less gain???
How would Clipping the C6 change things with the D6 gone??

It will cause the signal to clip more (i.e., distort more) and also get rid of the asymmetry of the distortion. You will also lose some output.

Well i certainly dont want to lose output. What changes would i make to make it less gain more on the lines of a bluesbreaker pedal?

you could take out the diode clipper completely, and use say an 1n34 or 60 on just one side of the wave. you MAY lose a touch of volume, barely, but it'll break up real nice and sound a lot more like a bluesbreaker.

Removing C6 will give much more clarity, and maybe a bit more volume. It's like taking the pedal out from under a blanket, so to speak.

You say you want less "gain". Where do you have the Drive knob set when you're playing? The Drive knob adjusts the gain. If you want lesser degree of "clipping", try using a 1N4001, or 3mm red LED in place of D6. Or remove both D5 and D6 and use one of those other diodes in their place. The great thing is you can try different diode combinations, see what you like, and add a switch so you can use either.

If you want to add some low end and get a fuller sound, try increasing any or all of these: C1, C2, and C3.

Thanks guys!!!! I should have said i want less clipping, less distortion, more Malcom than Angus. Make sense? Basicly using it as a different "amp" setting. So super clean, pedal on sounds like its just breaking up, then switch amp to dirty w/ pedal on as well for big distorted goodness. I got a couple leds i salvaged from a pc, ill try one of those in d6 and remove c6 and see how it goes!!
