fixed 1k resistor on fuzz face

So, I noticed that I only use the fuzz pot at max, and I have a 50k at the input which is a much better way to control the sound on this pedal. My question is this,on the fuzz pot I pull the wire off of lug 2 and the wire of lug 3 and put a 1k resistor in between, right? Lug 1 was just going to ground anyways, so away with that, right?  But my theory is bumpkiss. I tried this and it didnt work. What am I missing?

What you need is a 1k resistor to ground and the capacitor in parralell with that.
So you need to put a 1k resistor from lug 1 to lug 3, and then a jumper from lug 2 to 1.
