Hi~ It's me again after a long hiatus... ;D  Recently I thought about true bypassing my 1990's russian big muff with the four screws on the front not the one with the six screws but I'm not sure how different they are... There aren't any straight forward instuctions in the archives or on the internet... Am I supposed to cut a trace somewhere? On the input side perhaps? Or is that for the black big muff?  Rather than make a mistake and reach a point of no return, I thought I'd double check with you guys!! Thanks so much... Otherwise I'd just go back to the original spdt switch...

Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe first figure out the hows and why's of true bypass, then figure out how your pedal is switched. GEOfex has great stuff, for one. If you can get that and put it on paper (mark the colors of the connecting wires!!), you can figure out exactly which wire goes where, and why, and it will help immensely with debugging when something goes wrong (and it eventually will, happens to all of us). Really good first step into tracing, without actually having to trace the actual effect (just make that a black box with IN, OUT, + and ground).
Painting by numbers is great, but aside from stroking a brush, or in this case soldering you won't really learn anything much and you're depending on others to give you the numbers *for that one specific pedal*, while EH is notorious for small changes even in the same production run. "Cut the white wire" won't cut it, and may be drastically wrong (or totally right, who knows...)
It's not that difficult, and people here respond really well to requests like "this is what I have in mind, I figured this-and-that out,I think doing this is the right way, am I right? (pictures included)"

As always I appreciate any and all input regarding any inqueries I present to the forum.. Hopefully this weekend I can do some more research on the why true bypass works the way it does.. If you've written any articles that you'd like recommend as pertinent information on the subject I'd love to read it.. So the quest for me begins..
Thanks again for all the ideas over the years to everyone..

I have true bypassed my green russian a few years ago.

There are some guides on the net if you search for them. http://www.singlecoil.com/docs/russian_muff.pdf

You do have to cut a trace on the board and rewire (or replace) the stomp switch.

I used a millennium bypass circuit and the original switch in my mod. That way it looks the same and you still have the led function.

NB - The original switch is different to a standard DPDT switch, the poles are orientated differently.
