Is August 2013 - Ten years of this iteration of this forum?

It seems like those are some of the first posts. WOW, 10 years already?
Another thing is that it's been 14 years since I built my first pedal. Time flies!

I saw some of my old posts at Ampage - it's like someone else was posting. I like this text "I don't know about the germanium sound.... We will see.... "

aron, you can't tell me that -I- have been a mostly-inactive-member of this forum for nearly it's entire duration; I was just a stupid high school kid when I joined!  No way I've been in diystompboxes since (almost) it began!  (even though my first post was in 12/2003...)
Peace 'n Love

This is a cause for some kind of celebration I'd say!

There should be a special 10th year celebration PCB.
Something that represents DIY. Something that when you think DIY you thing about this build.
An old favorite maybe? A build where all contributed?
Maybe have a short list. Have a pole.
Then Bean's gets some PCB fabricated.
They get sold and profits goes to the forum so it can go on for another 10 year.
Or maybe we could have 2 builds?
A simpler one for the greener amount us and a more challenging one so you gurus don't get board.

I'd like to see a list of the names or handles of the first few hundred members.  I'll wager it would bring back a lot of memories for some of us.  A number have gone on to establish themselves in the pedal world: Marcus Ahlfs (Skreddy), Alfonso Hermida, and many others.

I used to hang out at Ampage too before this forum even existed.

I built my first pedal almost 12 years ago. Still like doing this sort of thing after all this time too.

I'd be more than happy to donate materials for a 10th anniversary contest, or even contribute a PCB design that Aron could carry in the store with the profits going to offset server costs/whatever for the next 10 years. My education began when I registered for this forum 8 years ago and I've learned immeasurably from it! Just say the word.

and it's still as much a cool place as ever. Even with 28 thousand registered members.
Thank you Aron, thank you gang ;P

And thanks also to the old (and new) pros that never get board of answering our questions.
I can't imagine the number of times they must have re-answered the same questions.
But that's what makes this place so wonderful. They stile answer! With patience and willingness to share the knowledge.

And also all the great designs that are freely offered is amazing!

I wish I could give you all a big HUG. :icon_neutral: Maybe a handshake? OK A big THANKS then!

Last night a friend (beautiful female type) called me at 12:30 am to tell me that she's in town, leaving today, and is at an old watering hole we used to frequent. So.....I stepped out for a bit!

When I arrived home I checked my email and this forum and was surprised when I saw the subject heading posted by Aron:

Re: Is August 2013 - Ten years of this irritation of this forum?

I though....Oh No! Is he burnt out on doing this? is he going to shut down this site?

Then my eyes  focused a bit and I noticed the word iteration not irritation!

Aron, Please don't scare me like that again! Without this site I would be lost in a maze of electrical components!!
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

Yes, thanks for enduring my plethora of dumb questions.  :icon_redface:

I have learned very much in my time spent here.  :icon_razz:

artifus

just a respectful nod to the oldies for making this thing happen and keeping it here...

and a friendly wave to all the other appreciative noobs and lurkers like myself who dip in and out...

much love...

Wow! Time sure flies! I think I started getting into DIY around 2000, so I hung out in the previous incarnation of this forum, too. I never would have learned most of what I now know if it weren't for DIYstompboxes. Aron - You Rock! And thank you to everyone who ever posted here! You all rock! Here's to another 10, and many more!!!

Thanks, yall!!!

Wow, I've been around for at least three incarnations of this forum.  I still check it out every day, even if I don't post or build much anymore.  Great job keeping it running, Aron!

Congratulations, Aron! This forum has opened a whole new world to me and so many others. Now I've learned the "secrets" of the pedals I longed for but couldn't afford as a kid staring into the glass case at the music store. I've been an electronics freak since I was very young, but I never thought I could build a decent (or great) sounding effect until I found your forum. You've fostered a place for people of all levels of knowledge and skills to discuss and learn about this fun and rewarding hobby. Thank you, and here's to many 10s of years more! :)

Hi Aron--

I remember happily my early days in the Ampage forum when I was still casting about for a business model, and the generous support from knowledgeable people as "Woodstock for Pedal-Builders" (R. G.'s phrase) began taking shape. Thanks so much for maintaining and extending your "brand" and keeping it welcoming to both beginners and experienced professionals.

I remember when  RG's info and Craig Anderton's books were all there was to learn from....
I am so grateful to aron, bean, RG, and everyone else that contributes to this money-sucking addiction.

I mean, hobby.;D
Mockingbird wish me luck.

Coming up on my third birthday on this forum in a week and a few days, so by August I'll have been here for one third of this forums life. I blame this forum (via the time sucking hobby it got me stuck on) for me still not being able to play the guitar.

Thanks.

I'll grab the guitar and practice some now, if I can just let go of the keyboard.
