Boss CE-1 kind of chorus (mn3007-mn3002 swap)

Hey there, i was wondering if there was a way to get a CE1 kind of sounding chorus, but using the more available mn3007... is it possible to get the same chorusing sound of the mn3002 (which i love) with the mn3007? ... i get the 07 has 1024 stages, and the 02 has half of it... is it a matter of frequency of the high frequency oscillator, or is there more than that? cheers

Well... the specs are a bit different but I don't see why you couldn't use a 3007 with increased clock freq, probably close enough to get the CE-1 sound.

Saying that I think both smallbear & mammoth stock the MN3002.

When you try subbing a BBD with another with different stages number, you must change clock freq. , double in your case, then you must check if you can do it 'cause you must remain in a proper range for the new BBD.
If you must go higher than 1MHz with MNs you'll obtain a severe, constant BBD's output level attenuation...
Then you should check whether LFO output voltage will drive the VCO properly, 'cause you might have a different min./max. ratio.

So...
check the min. AND max clock frequencies, with the actual clock generator, halve its capacitor and check again.
If you don't go higher than 1-1.3MHz your chorus will be the same
"NOT FLAMMABLE" is not a challenge

yeah, thats what i thought, the LFO thing is true, when you get higher oscillation freqs  than intended (as in small clone mods), LFO power becomes tamer. will try it  ;D
