I will unfortunately not be able to participate  :( I had high hopes, but on the bright side, I just got a job offer! So I'll need to relocate, start a new job, buy a car, all within the next two weeks! Here is the framework of what was going to haunt all of your dreams.

I wish you all good luck and I can't wait to see what you'll come up with.

Wow, that would've been the best modified Tube Screamer ever!   :icon_mrgreen:

I don't know about you guys, but all those pcb panels gave me the idea of a stompbox built using six pcb panels. Probably best to use at least double sided boards to facilitate shielding ;D

Trust me everything will be board mounted ;D

Aw, man.

But finding gainful employment is a pretty legit excuse. :)

Not so much a teaser as a progress report. If all goes well I guess I might just be able to submit my entry  :icon_biggrin:

There's four days worth of progress between these pictures, not a single solder joint though :(

But truth is I've actually soldered in a bunch of components since, just wires, debug/verification, drilling, painting, decorating and clear coating left to do. Alternatively just wiring, frustration, violence and towel throwing, who knows  ???

Dang Perro! You cleaned up that desk good, wanna give my desk a cleaning too ?

Rob , Mike , the video *DOES* work for me as well. Might be missing codecs on your computer if it doesn't play ? I know its a wmv so a windows computer should play it no problem but the codec may not be configured to work inside a browser. you could try to right click and save as. It's a great flick too mike your really missing out! I laughed I cried I got pretty hungry for a bacon sammich!

Those pictures are NOT simulations...

The pig however, is a simulation.

@Mustachio: Yeah, and that wasn't all, there was no floor space and the box, toolbox, steering wheel and other stuff in the foreground were standing on the stool. Would need to spend a couple of hours to get any sort of real order in there, but at least I can sit down and solder now :)

I have tried several codec packs. One of them even dorked up my computer and I had to do a system restore.   Youtube link maybe?

I don't know if rob ever posted that to youtube , I don't remember seeing it on his channel but maybe.

Did ya try right clicking the link and save target as ? then you should be able to play it in windows media player or vlc. And yeah be careful on some of those codec packs start messing with low level video layers and things start going haywire.

VLC is packaged with a bunch of codecs and instead of installing them into the system it just pulls up their resource files when its needed from its own install dir. Thats the safe way :)

Perro I think it may take weeks to clean my work areas haha! Your work area looks great now! I think I spend more time looking for correct components on my desk then I do anything else.

I "saved" my build yesterday, finding a 100pF cap in a "bag" of surplus caps I bought when starting this hobby, took surprisingly little effort. I think I have most components where I can find them, my problem is tools and kipple.

That link is so good I have to repost it here.

QuoteFrom Phil Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

JR - Kipple is useless objects, like junk mail or match folders after you use the last match or gum wrappers of yesterday's homeopape. When nobody's around, kipple reproduces itself. For instance, if you go to bed leaving any kipple around your apartment, when you wake up the next morning there's twice as much of it. It always gets more and more.
Pris- I see.
JR - There's the First Law of Kipple, "Kipple drives out nonkipple." Like Gresham's law about bad money. And in these apartments there's been nobody there to fight the kipple.
Pris - So it has taken over completely. Now I understand.
JR - Your place, here, this apartment you've picked - it's too kipple-ized to live in. We can roll the kipple-factor back; we can do like I said, raid the other apartments. But -
Pris - But what?
JR - We can't win.
Pris - Why not?
JR - No one can win against kipple, except temporarily and maybe in one spot, like in my apartment I've sort of created a stasis between the pressure of kipple and nonkipple, for the time being. But eventually I'll die or go away, and then the kipple will again take over. It's a universal principle operating throughout the universe; the entire universe is moving toward a final state of total, absolute kippleization.

If this doesn't sound like your workbench then you're a freak, just so you know.
