On a video i saw on you tube the guy had a hi/low gain mod on his cruchnbox that sounded quite good does anyone know of these mods and how to do them please.

Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!

Here's an explanation of the mods ( click on read more.   )

My guess is a series resistor to the gain pot switchable for the high low gain and maybe silicon diodes 1n4148 probably assymetric on the switch for the new clipping section.
Uneducated guess

Well, the presence mod is already documented... The lo/hi gain switch is probably something like you said and the comp switch is probably different clipping diodes and or configuration.

You could try something like jimi did with the clipping in his transmission overdrive in the CB...? Might be interesting?

thanks Jim.
its such a simple build i might breadboard it and experiment.

what about this?
Put a 100k resistor across a dpdt switch on one side and a jumper on the other side.
and a 100k gain pot and put the switched resistor in parallel across lug 1 and 3
therefore (if i have this right)  halving the pots resistance thus reducing the gain.
Pow LOW GAIN SETTING but still adjustable though with the pot.
will this work ? thanks

I'm guessing something like a 500k resistor or the 680K of the Guv'nor instead of the 1M for Low gain mode.
The comp switch should be 2XLeds, no diodes, Led and 4148 or another one.
Just a guess, can't see the diodes from the pcb.
