Hi.

My last post was deleted (don´t know why). So I repost again.

I finished putting together a mammoth kit. I fixed the battery connection that was wrong, and made again all the switch wiring according to the build documents on guitarpcb.com.

This is how it looks:

The problems I got are: the pedal is extremely noisy when bypassed. Makes the pedal useless. Gain Pot just seems to work on the last bit of its full range and the sound dosen´t overdrive gradually. It goes from clean to a fuzz kind overdrive.

Here is the schematic:

These are the things I have troubleshooted so far:

Components to ground:
R3 OK
R5 OK
C4 OK
R13 OK
R15 OK
C13 OK
C2 OK (with Pot 1 open)

Components to 9v:
C13 = 8.89
R2 = 8.89
R4 = 8.89
R12 = 8.89
R14 = 8.89
R16 = 8.88

Battery= 9.2

Voltage Readings (measured it in both legs of every component):

R1= 0 - 0
R2= 8.87 - 1.54
R3= 0.40 - 0
R4= 5.17 - 8.86
R5= 0.95 - 0
R6= 0.42 - 0.40
R7= 0.95 - 0.89
R8= 0.42 - 0.42
R9= 0.43 - 0.41
R10= 0.41 - 0.41
R11= 0.55 - 0.56
R12= 8.83 - 1.46
R13= 1.46 - 0
R14= 8.82 - 5.30
R15= 0.90 - 0
R16= 8.82 - 8.80

C1= 0.89
C2= 0.40
C3= 5.13 - 1.53
C4= 0.94
C5= 5.13 - 1.53
C6= 0.39 -0.40
C7= 0.58 - 0.42
C8= 1.45 - 0.40
C9= 0.59 - 0.38
C10= 5.28 - 0.56
C11= 5.27
C12= 0.90

Q1= E: 0.39 B: 0.88 C: 1.51
Q2= E: 0.93 B: 1.52 C: 5.12
Q3= E: 0.90 B: 1.45 C: 5.26

Sorry about the cables colors, I just used the material that came with the kit. Will improve this on the next build.

Regards.

I think you've wired the output, from the bypass switch, to the sleeve lug on the output jack, and the tip connection seems to go to board ground.

swap the wires at the output jack, and it should work. (that's if I'm looking at it and seeing it right.)
I feel sick.

caesparza

That is correct! It solved the problem. Thanks.
