I love those Hammond box (both 1590b and bb). The bigger 1590BB is easy to use due to extra size but the little ones are so compact you can fullfill your gig bag with lots of them, and sometimes I give up bringing a big pedal because of its size.

I always put the jack along the length.

What do you think about those two as far as use is concerned?
Do you think size matter? (I mean: does compacts fx are better to use for you?)

I like more knobs than most people so I'm biased about size, but you do have a point. I see big as a Mutron phasor. That thing is huge. I also have an old SAD1024 flanger in a huge box so I see a BB as pretty small.

Hammond has a few sizes inbetween the B and the BB like the N1, and the S which is taller.

I like that you can fit 5 16mm pots across the top of a BB with enough room for two footswitches and a 18V supply. :D

Yes, you may talk about the Biphase but the Phaser I, despite having a beautifull case,  is big for every day gigs.
I own a Moog filter, and alway wonder about briging it every time (not that good sounding anyway).

I have just received some great knobs and with 9mm pots, I think I could fit most of my projects into 1590B.
