my son of screamer squeels like a proverbial when i put it in bypass.
i've tried a few differant wiring configurations with the ground at the input but i cant seem to make it work any differantly.
Somethings a miss and i cant figure out what.
BTW i'm using a millenium bypass (BS170)

Suggest a solution please It's driving me nuts.

and i'm not using the input jack as a switch for the power because the effect does not run off a battery (no room left in my box for one)

It sounds like you a have problem with your thing!

Squealing like a loop in the switching somewhere?

Got any pictures of the switching circuit?

Ok... what about the circuit though - the switch pins look ok...

Have you tried grounding the circuit input?

Unfortunately yes i tried that.
I think i'll strip it out of the box and go back to basics.
and try again i think from what i've read it is an issue with high gain pedals. Maybe i'll cut back on the gain a bit and see if that helps.
When i put it in bypass it starts to squeel then when i back off the tone it squeels a bit less as i get down past half way but the freqauncy changes as i back it off.
The only way to get rid is to back off the gain too which kinda defeats the object and would be near impossible to use live as is.
thats the reason i think its a grounding issuue because 've read it in so many other threads too.
I might try a simple true bypass but i cant see why it would help i dunno.

Food for though (ie. probably not an answer but comes to mind).

There are a couple of 3pDT layouts, the common two have a difference in that there is a diagonal jumper is one of them which maintains a bypassed ground (correct me if I'm wrong here anyone).

I only use that latter one, but do so as I was strongly advised by some pedal building techo's to do so ESPECIALLY in high gain/current applications.

Maybe related underyling ideas?

Kipper4

which one please ( a link would be handy ) so i can grasp the concept thanks

Check out the various 3PDT with GND type options, I could be WAY OFF but I think this might be a start.

I'll try that tommorow thanks your help is appreciated

I have always used these wiring diagrams from Tonepad (pages 3 and 5) and never had a problem.  BTW, your DPDT wiring for the M2 looks OK to me.

I've unboxed it and everytime i touch the tone pot lugs i get the squeel so i'm going to try rewiring the pots and see if it still happens.
It is really quite for a screamer when it works right.

I cant stop it squeeling i'll review my layouts and try again.
I have an old one that works a treat unboxed without squeel.

I made a much smaller variation of the son of screamer From poodle pedal parts uk. (Not affiliated) there little screamer.
It sounds good nothing unusual for an overdrive I thoughts (nice tone and all) but is it enough, would I buy it? Probably if it was cheap enough.
Then I decided I'd swap out the diodes in the clipping amp.
On the schematic d1 =1n4148
D3=1n34a
Substitute d3 for a 1n60p and wow it's much better to my ears.
Just the sound I was after.
