What's your favorite DIY build to date?

As you may be able to tell by now, I LOVE subjective / opinion based topics  :)

Despite my constant draw to whacky, yet tameable, effects like Clari(not) and Echobender, I think my favorite still has to be my JHS Morning Glory build.  I've got some "that's the sound in my head" connection with that pedal that keeps surprising me when I kick it in for a bit of boost and a touch of dirt.

What's your favorite so far?

Depends on the time of day and how I feel. At the moment it's either a Zendrive or a Spitfire but tomorrow?
Once tried putting wah, compressor, valve tone, zendrive, mayqueen, box of rock, spitfire, delay in a line and turning them all on. Really great fun but the neighbours have asked me not to do it again. Can't really blame them, I don't think it was the volume, more the sound which at times could sound like pig with a stick up its ar**

I've been in love with the Lunar Module I built. Not only do I love it for the sound, but I now have extreme respect for Skreddy and the time he puts into his projects. What a pedal/guy  :-*

The Wampler Ecstasy so far, but I have an Echoplex board sitting here that might trump it.

Not a rehearsal goes by that I don't use my cave dweller and my deprofundis. Probably my favorite simple delays.

Echoplex huh?  Tell me more about this, are you building a tape delay or a reasonable facsimile.  I would be interested in building either one.  I've collected most of the parts I need to build a tape delay but just haven't gotten up the nerve to try it (that and I have two space echoes, so it's just a labor of love)

My favorite DIY build is my Ludwig Phase II.  Next might be the Meeblip 8 bit synth.

My favorite overdrive is my "Rose Screamer", followed by "Dirty Little Secret MkIII"
Fuzz: Big Muff, "The Edge Version" (Mictester gave some hints...) with Mid-Switch as in BYOC's "Large Beaver"
Modulation: Phase 90 (Tonepad with some mods), Taylors "Tap Tempo Tremolo"
Filter: Snow White Auto Wah with mods
Compressor: Mictesters "Really Cheap Compressor" (with mods) for guitar and the "That Jam" for Bass

Favorite commercial pedal: Line6 Echo Park

I meant Multiplex. I am an idiot.

Just listened to some clips.  I think that's the kind of pedal I need to get me out of my "needz moar overdrivez!!!1!" phase.  Definitely going on the to do list!

I don't know if I could pick a favourite. I've had a lot of fun building and tweaking big muffs, but I never seem to get much gig use out of them - seems more of a 'bedroom' pedal to me. Modulation pedals and compressors are interesting (and I do enjoy my Ross clone), but again I don't find that I've got much use for them live.

The build I've got the most use out of is definitely the MKIII Tonebender - I've built both an npn and pnp version (both germ) and one or other is always on my pedalboard - it's not a particularly wacky or exciting circuit, but it seems to be 'just right' in a live situation and sits really well with my guitar (rickenbacker 330) and amp (70s Hiwatt).

I'm battling with a mki build at the moment, which sounds nice (intermittently!) but I don't think it'll replace my mkiii.

You're not an idot, that I know of.

I've seen the Multiplex project, that's on my build list.  I have an echo problem.  I would start Echoholics Anonymous, but I know we would all just get together and make space noises.

Liquitone

My favorite build so far must be my 4th and latest univibe, when I plugged it in and strummed a few chords I got all shaky, with goosebumps all over and started to sweat at the same time.
I never had that with any previous builds, so I guess it's my body telling me I finally got it right.

nocentelli

Lovetone Meatball for sheer "I can't believe I actually managed to build it and it works!" satisfaction.

Lunar module or Timmy for the pedals I enjoy using the most.

Hmm, there's that Lunar Module again...

Are you guys using the 5 knob or 3 knob?  I think I'm putting the 3 knob on my todo list, unless there's overwhelming feedback that the control of 5 knobs makes a world of difference.

From my "I can't believe I actually managed to build it and it works!" satisfaction department, I vote for the Infinitphase. My most monsterous build. I`m now (slowly) trying to work my way back to more simple circuits. The patches seem to be helping. :icon_lol:

The Craig Anderton Phase shifter.  I don't really know why, I don't like phase shifters all that much.  It has interesting controls and I had to put it into a different kind of enclosure since the PCB was big.

Five knob. The three knob version has the other two knobs accessible from the outside via holes and trimmers for a reason!

- The Polyphase. Some magic in there.
- Strangely enough, a Guvnor. It´s an "average Joe" distortion, but always comes through, just the right amount of dirt.
- A Fuzz Face with many added features (in/out buffers, bias control, tone controls) and super duper selected Smallbear transistors.
- ALL my PT2399 delays: Rebote, Ping Pong, Echo Base, Time-space.

Oh, I had to choose only one?  :P
