I'd love to build the riot
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11178619/Riot%20Schematic%20Latest.pdf

But I'm struggling to get the right switch on/off/on DDT (IIRC)
So I was thinking can it be modded so that it does the suhr riot sound with out that switch.
Maybe a 2 switch mod or cut out some of the diode options. If I do the minus diodes options which ones should I cut out and still get that modern od feel.
Right now I don't need another screamer if that makes sense?

You need an On-On-On Switch. Id saw find videos that use the switch and different options and find the one you think sounds best then compare that to the scheme.

On-on-on switches are not easy to fine, but you can fake it with 2 on-on switches or else use a rotary switch.

Please clarify how Sam.
I'm a little worried about rotary switches am I worrying unduly?
I should also look into which options I prefer too so I can be clearer on what I expect thanks

Like I said, do you find in the demos that you really need multiple options. Almost all the demo's I see they just use one setting.

I've built  a few pedals wil different clipping options and I find that I really just use one.

Small Bear has those switches.

You can also look up the Folk Fuzz.    Similar options with a SPDT on-off-on switch.   You'll have to think about it though.

What are you worried about?

You can buy DPDT on-on-on switches easily enough on ebay, probably pay a bit over the odds but for one or two that doesn't really matter.

This is exactly what you need http://uk.farnell.com/multicomp/2md6t1b5m2re/switch-dpdt-0-1a-20v-solder/dp/1550108?Ntt=1550108
I used this switch for my Riot SMD clone

Thanks guys

Anyone built this version

http://circuitworkshop.com/forum/index.php?topic=707.0

is it close to the riot? Verified?

one more question. What are the 51y diodes? I've never heard of them and cant seem to find any info much.

Either 5.1V Diode or 51v diode. Just use 4148's

That was made back in 2010 before Markgor fixed the schem, so it's not truly the RIOT. Unless Rick updated it.

The only known layouts are RCUSTOMS in the other forum or |v|ark's from tagboard labeled FIXED.

Thanks Pappa.
I'm using Markgors Schematic to make my perfboard layout.
I'm hoping to squeeze it in a 1590B with a battery option and pots on board
I'll leave to pots off board until last thing and see if i need the room on the pcb
It might be a bit ambitious but i'm gonna try.

Just use 2 clipping options... ::) much easier and the switches are easy to find. If You are like most people you will find that one of the three clipping options you will rarely if ever use so why even go to the bother? Just figure out which two you like the best and use those...
Doesn't matter what you did to get it... If it sounds good, then it is good!

Kipper4

It might be a good candidate for the breadboard before build then.

+1 on the double clipping, the germanium diodes are just overkill in this application,no big deal.

On off on and use madbeans wiring for diodes. At least that's what I've done with my riot clone. That and james eq with mid shift switch.

I'd hazard a guess it was madbeans uproar which others have said the same.
I'm hoping that this will actuallly sound like the riot.

I've put together a perfboard layout but dont know if it would cause Aron too much trouble if i post it in here.
If not then i'd appreciate your keen eyes to all who want to help me make sure I havent missed anything or made some bad connections.
I'm thinking perfboard the main circuit and breadboard the diode options choose which of the two i like best and just put the two favorites on the perf after with a dpdt toggle switch.
|Should i throw up my layout?
Thanks for all the help and opinions so far its been a great help.
the 4580 chips are on order.

Your thread was already a big help with the diode switching bit from Jim
i'll go lookie see the diode from madbean thanks
