Hi :)

I just finished another Colorsound Overdriver Clone, and when I tested it I found out that when you turn the Bass knob, it makes a weird clicking or scratching noise.

To build this clone I used the schematic from FuzzCentral:

The effect works and sounds great as usual, though I'm not sure what causes this problem. This isn't the first clone I made of this circuit, and I'm using the same layout as usual.

Could it be a faulty pot?
Voltages can be posted if needed, though the effect itself works so I don't think it's necessary.

Thanks!
Ofek  ;)

Last time I got a scratchy pot was because there was DC on it. Look at your caps, you must have reverse one (electrolytic)

Ok, so I went over the circuit board, and none of the Elctrolytic caps are reversed.
I noticed though that there's a spot on the pot that it is hard to turn the shaft, and when you do signal also changes a bit.
Is it possible that I put to much solder onto the pot's lug?

The 4.7uF cap connected to the collector of the third transistor is the wrong way round on that schematic, I don't know if that would cause the problem you have though.

Exactly.

Besides, a 100nF cap across the bass pot is missing. Stay away from that schematic and search for the one from Sola Sound.

Just replaced the pot, and everything is back to working order.. :)
I don't think there's a problem with the scheme I used, it's just a bad pot
