Hello, i just wired up my new ABY pedal. pretty happy with it, though my idea to have parrallel inputs seems to be not working so well.
what happens is that when i have my iphone plugged in to the bottom jack the guitar on the top jack cuts out. I dont understand

first
of all i used this schematic

here is it. A and B go to either pedal, the top right jack is an input, as is the unput on the bottom in parrallel with the top right

what have i done, why wont my parrallel inputs work?

Stay calm, Nyklus!

Do you have a diagram of how you wired it?  The ones you posted only show 3 jacks.

Nyklus

ok so

in terms of 2nd input, vs. 1st input (origonal schematic)

I soldered the 2nd input ground to the 1st input ground
and the second input lead to the same spot on the dpt swith as the 1st input lead.

Nyklus

when i plugged my ipod into 2nd input the 1st input no longer has any signal.

however my bass signals when plugged into the 1st input, and when i touch the lead of cable plugged into the 2nd input,  it buzzes.

Nyklus

the diagram is here, but i dont know how to post pdf. http://singlecoil.com/docs/aby.pdf

Your second jack looks like it's a switched jack.... is it supposed to be? I don't see that in the layout picture

Also the layout shows your input jack as being a Stereo TRS jack. and you appear to only have MONO although that shouldn't matter it just wont disconnect the battery when something isn't plugged in. if you're use a power adapter then it shouldn't matter

Is it a switched jack or are you just brute force mixing stero down to mono at the jack?

Aside from the switching jack issue wont the output from the ipod and the rest have VASTLY different impedences/signal strengths?

Nyklus

yeah the 1st input is a switched jack. should that matter?

Nyklus

about impedence, i imagine you are right but is there any way around this?

Ipod would be line level,

You'd need some sort of buffer I believe, could be wrong.

Quick questions. If i break the lead from the 2nd input to the 1st in put with a switch will this solve the problem?

Nyklus

easier done than said.

Really - just get a single dual opamp and buffer both inputs (use one side each) and throw a level knob on each.

Its one of the easier ways to get what you want out - just google opamp buffer ABY and nick a layout.
