hi cool and awesome people out there :) im having some trouble figuring out shomething about the 20uF capacitor in this cicuit, im thinking is it possible to change it with a 22uf capasitor, or will i fry the system? :)

just remember the polarity (+/-)

btw, if you measure that 22uF, there's a chance it would be 20uF. There a lot of error with many components and that's easily within acceptable range for a stompbox...and also, I'd say most people use 22uF there today since 20's are not a common value.

good luck

A capacitor can generally vary between 10% and even 50% if that's all you have!!!!   Wild, I know.

Now, where you'll run into problems will be in tone stacks and parts of circuits where the frequencies you're passing or rejecting are critical...using off-value caps in them can often result in a tone that sounds like poo poo.  :o)     Increasing the emitter bypass cap by a bit won't hurt as it isn't so critical (altho it does affect bass response).

A good example of where it counts is that .01uF cap at the output of the FF...if you made it too large, you'd have too much bass output (muddy), and too small, you'd sound like you were inside an AM radio (altho some might like that!).  Good places to experiment!
