To save others the hunt....

'5532 is the nearest thing to dual '5534.

Alternatively, the LM833 is a pretty good sub for a 5532.

i have a bag full of both. great chips.

i'm using the 5534's in my suzy q's now, a lot less noise and hiss than the original 741's.

and it substantially decreased the noise floor of the clone theory i built when i swapped out all the ic's with 5532's

they even sound good in fuzzes!

I think its worldwide....although depending on what country you live there may be import taxes and that kind of thing. I got mine in yesterday (12 chips total) and it was completely free. Great way to try something out without plopping down money for chips you may or may not like. I got a couple different opamps, some tl13700's, and tl7660's (which are really cool by the way....can turn a +9v source into -9 and +9 source!

Most of the big semi manufacturers will send out free samples. I get plenty from TI, Analog Devices, and Microchip. (In UK)

ti aren't making discrete small signal bipolar anymore, are they? I'm afraid I was a bit overwhelmed by their site, after it crashed my browser a couple times, and I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

I should probably acknowledge TI here, cause they sent me a bunch of op-amps for nix, to the door here in au. about $30 worth if I could get them here.

also Supertex sent me some mosfets, thank you. and Intersil are sending, I'm waiting, for some timers and neg supply gen chips.

fairchild, on the otherhand, whom I thought had gone the way of NS, said "we don't ship samples to your country".

I have a big list of suppliers I'm working through/researching, if anyone is interested or would like to help.
