Hey guys, I did most of the known mods on a friends crybaby  rev.G today (whipple, vocal, mids) and i'm about to add a led to it but keep the buffer intact since it does its job pretty well, i need a hand on this as i'm not so sure if the way i think its correct got most info on stinkfoot site. Will use a carling dpdt switch and i was thinking it should be wired like this.

         ___       ___       ___
                   ground    led cath

         ___       ___       ___
        green   purple     blue

thanks

Harris,

You'll get a better response from the folks here if you post a schematic and a link to the site you are referring to.

Green, purple, blue doesn't mean much to the average person. (unless you're Joe Gagan!)
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

i have never installed an LED in a wah. can you believe it?

Are you serious? That's the first thing that I did!
That LED started this whole obsession! Once I hit the net and saw all of the modifications, schematics, and projects....I was hooked!

I put an LED in one of my older wahs, true bypassed it too while I was at it.

I'm pretty sure green is input, purple is output, and blue is effect output (from the pot). If that's right, then your wiring will work fine.

If you're going through the trouble though, use a 3pdt and wire it up for true bypass. IMO the high end loss when the effect is bypassed in the stock way (like you are considering) is significant and annoying.

yeap thats it!!! i wired it yesterday and it worked like a charm, i didnt bother to true bypass it since the guy he wanted me to mod it said that he liked his tone was superb with the wah bypassed (!) ands didnt want to tbp it, my personal opinion its was " it sucks like any other crybaby i've played with"...but  its a matter of taste after all :).

sorry i didnt post a schematic i thought the gcb-95 rev G. was known to the diy community ( thats lame of me i know) will be more specific and provide more info next time i need something.
Thanks

yes, some people actually like the tonesuck feature of old style waH wiring. the dunlop bonamassa wah has an internal switch to revert the tbp to old style. tripps explained that joe b was fond of the bypassed tone the old way.
