I am looking for help to isolate the "gain select" control from this fender amp footswitch. I want to build a pedal with just the "gain select" option. It looks like this might be voltage based switching? Any help would be appreciated

Interesting looking switching arrangement.  I'd be interested to know how this works as well.

What was Fender smoking that day??

I may be way off-base.

But if I squint this right......

You have to decide which channel you want. If you want the mode where Channel LED is ON, then you have to have an LED (it does not need to be visible, we just need its voltage-drop). If you like Channel LED Off, then just short to ground.

Gain Select is either 1.7V (LED) or 4.4V (Vz+LED).

LEDs have to be Fender's colors (LED voltage is controleld by LED color). The two Gain LEDs may have to be well-matched.

Thanks, I see what you are saying about the channel integration decision. Hopefully, if I find these 1n5223B 2.7V diodes and the right LED colors,  this will work.

Does it matter what zener diode I use, or will any 2.7V work?  :icon_redface:

I would try "any" 2.7V Zener with Watts similar to whatever the 1n5223B is.

I see Mouser has 39,400 of the 1n5223B at 13 cents each.
