My dad has gotten really into electric violin lately.  He's an old school folk fiddle player.  Was known as one of the best fiddle players in south florida in the 80's.

I was thinking of building him a wah for his violin and stubbled across the Mark Wood Wah.  I can't find any schematic or any detailed info on it at all and was wondering if anyone knew anything about this wah

here's the video of it.  cant get over this dudes hair haha.  Mark Wood is a piece of work.  Maybe you can get an idea of what the guts are made from the sound clips.  i'm not quite there yet

I don't know anything about this particular wah, but there may not be any need to emulate that one specifically.  Wood's appears to be voiced a little on the bassy side.  Richard Greene used a wah for several songs when he was with Seatrain (late 60s - early 70s).  That was back in the dark ages, there weren't very many pedal choices.   I don't know what kind he used.  Here is Seatrain doing 13 Questions, the wah fiddle solo comes in at 1:40.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eFi4p_m3K4

I bet you could just take a stock crybaby and fiddle  ;D with the caps a bit to get the frequency and tone right where your dad would want it.

reading through this http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/wahpedl/wahped.htm will explain better than I can which components to focus on.

I just don't know much about wah and even less about wah voiced for violin. I'll dig around that geofex article and see what I can pull from that. Thanks guys

there... may not be 'precisely' what he's using, but ... closeish in principal?

mayhap R.G. will drop in and no doubt be able to illuminate the way forward...
