I noticed most people build with the BDTR-2 even if they aren't using the stereo option. Other than the size (and the two outputs) are there other reasons to choose Version 2? I can get my hand on few of the version 1 fairly cheap so I was wondering if there is big difference between the two.

Thanks.

Short and sweet....(small) size does matter in stomp boxes!

The smaller size of the BDTR-2 allows for fitting the circuit in a 1590B rather than the larger 1590BB.
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

Or, in some cases, can even fit in a 1590a

It's not THAT bad if you plan it out right.  I even used full sized enclosed jacks.  It does count on the fact that there is a bit of a recess to the bottom plate.

Well, yeah, but PD, you do use SMD... (let's see standing resistors AND a brick!

OK, fair enough; it does have SMT parts on the board.

But somebody else here built it in a 1590a with through-hole components.  If you go to the 1590a section in the pictures thread, you can find it.
