yer, the first stage seems to provide not much more than unity gain looking w/ the scope, and the second stage sends it to the rails. I tried w/ both stages nearly cut-off as well, it seems like the go-to area. I couldn't find the setting from the day before, was tailing like a shower of sparkles or something.

I've got a knob from a steam iron (needs mods, of course) and a box that it will fit, with a single switch, and this looked perfect as a one knobber-first in line boost. now, I've got too many options!

i told ya it was a fun and mental little circuit. near as i can figure, you can turn down what goes in or comes out, but either way, it's gonna make it LOUD and amplify it by the hfe of the circuit with the power supplied.

check out the ancient prophet thread duck_arse and try the 3 transistor variant. you may find some velcro rippin pillow bitin' sounds you'll like... especially near cutoff, where ALL you get is the fuzz/distortion/static drowning out the fundamental completely til it swells in. almost ugly face-ish kinda square wave buzz.

ok, so i tried this with every @#$%in' npn ge i have. they all sound like poo.

switch the polarity, use a pnp? sounds great. so either it plain only works with pnp ge's, or i don't have any ge npn's that suck bad enough.

that said, i REALLY dig this thru my big amp... nice subtle boost, just right for icing other pedals with.

revision.... by itself, it seems to sound best with a .022 input cap. in the end, i bypassed the emitter rc network too.
